Batman rides announced for Yas Island in stately manner

The Dark Knight is rising … and coming to a theme park near you this summer.

Details of Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi’s Gotham City Zone – one of six areas in the 29-ride park on Yas Island – have been released.

There will be four main rides in Gotham City, plus games arcade, restaurants and shops.

Batman: Knight Flight is a high-tech simulator shaped as ‘The Bat plane’. The ride simulates a patrol through the skies of Gotham with the Dark Knight at a heart-rending pace.

It starts at Wayne Tech headquarters and visitors can expect dramatic drops, spins, climbs and rolls.

Scarecrow Scare Raid, named after the villain from the Batman comics and movies who brings his victims’ worst fears to life, is a flight experience that will feature, in Warner Bros World’s words, “aerobatics and whirlwind barrel rolls”.

The Riddler Revolution promises to be quite a rollercoaster ride, while The Joker’s Funhouse is being touted as “a villainous twist on the classic carnival walk-through”, with a hall of mirrors, a shrinking corridor, a labyrinth, moving carpets and a “hallucination hallway”.

Restaurants in the zone will include Gotham City’s Finest, which is themed as the police department’s hangout, and the Hall of Doom, designed to look like it is hidden in an abandoned underground station.

The other zones in Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi are Metropolis, Bedrock, Dynamite Gulch, Cartoon Junction and Warner Bros Plaza.

The opening date of the park is yet to be announced.

It is themed around stories from the worlds of Warner Bros and DC Comics, including characters such as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny and Scooby-Doo.
