Desert trip for Moon

A falcon perches on the arm of South Korean President Moon Jae-in, alongside UAE Energy Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei, during a desert visit in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Mr Moon was yesterday in Dubai wrapping up his official visit to the UAE.

South Korea’s President enjoyed a day of colour, tradition and hospitalit­y as he toured the UAE on the final day of his state visit.

Moon Jae-in tried out a sniper rifle on a visit the Akh unit, a South Korean military detachment stationed in Abu Dhabi.

He also met a young Korean couple, Capt Lee Jae-woo, from the Akh unit, and his fiancee Lee Dabomi. He also attended the Emirates-Korean business forum at Burj Khalifa and met Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, at Zabeel Palace.

The leaders discussed economic and cultural ties and the large number of tourists that visit each country. About 140,000 Korean tourists visited the UAE last year, while about 10,000 UAE tourists visited South Korea.

About 1,600 South Koreans are studying in UAE universiti­es and schools.

The president emphasised deep friendship and co-operation relations, thanking Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for the warm welcome, Wam reported.
