-

Emirates airline is to hire cabin crew in Dubai starting with a series of open days this month.

The airline said it was “hoping to give their careers a flying start” at walk-in events on April 13 and 28.

Recruitment of cabin crew from the UAE is relatively rare. Instead, it often takes place in other key global cities and the airline also takes crew from new destinations to ensure its personnel speak a variety of languages.

Emirates said candidates would need to arrive prepared to spend the full day at the venue.

Shortlisted applicants would be informed of times for further assessments and interviews.

The airline said the basic monthly pay is Dh4,260 plus accommodation. Crew are also paid Dh58 for every hour flown, and each of them fly between 80 and 100 hours a month.

Emirates also said candidates should ideally be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum height of 1.60 metres and a reach of 2.12m while standing on tiptoes to allow them to open and close overhead lockers on aircraft.

Applicants must be high school graduates and be fluent in written and spoken English.

Those seeking a job should also be physically fit, have no tattoos that would be visible in an Emirates cabin crew uniform and be able to adapt to new people, places and situations.

The airline is planning to hold recruitment open days at locations across the Middle East, Africa and Europe this month.
