Judging panel named for Abu Dhabi Through Your Eyes
Abu Dhabi Through Your Eyes, a creative media competition, has announced the judging panel for its fifth cycle, which closes submissions at 6pm on May 13. Ten judges will be evaluating submissions in six photography categories, alongside the newly introduced short film and student-only art and writing categories this year. Collectively, the 2018 competition will hand out cash prizes of more than Dh600,000. Abu Dhabi Through Your Eyes is open to creative talents from around the world to get participants to explore Abu Dhabi. The competition is open to everyone. Submissions should be unpublished works about the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Winners will be announced in a ceremony in September. The 2018 judges are Zaid Abu Hamdan, who is a Jordanian scriptwriter and filmmaker; Lindsey Parry, an English freelance journalist and blogger; Mattar bin Lahej, the Emirati painter, photographer, sculptor and founder of Marsam Mattar; Leo Wong, a lecturer, editor, Academy Award-nominated producer, director and actor from Los Angeles; Emirati photographer Ahmad Al Muhairi; Eman Talal Al Sayed, an Emirati filmmaker; Ahmed Al Yafei, the Emirati owner and founder of Art Hub; Yousef Al Habshi, an Emirati photographer; Huda bin Redha, an Emirati lawyer and aerial photographer; and Abdallah Al Shami, managing partner at Mad Solutions, the Arab world’s first fully-integrated film studio.
