Family of missing UAE man desperate for clues

- RUBA HAZA

The family of Saif Al Kindi, who went missing in Fujairah last week, have appealed to the public for any clues that could lead them to him.

His brother Salem said the Emirati, 28, looked fine when he left his house in Al Hayl at 2.45am last Wednesday. The family tried to contact Saif later that day when he did not return but his phone was switched off.

On Thursday, they found his car parked on a road between the mountains, 350 metres away from his home. The doors were unlocked and the keys were left inside, along with “all of his mobile phones” and an iPad.

“He does not disappear like this,” said Salem, 40. “He always calls us to check on us once in a while. It was still Ramadan. He sometimes goes to the city to meet friends and have suhoor with them. When he didn’t return back in the afternoon, we started to get worried.”

Saif joined the military after he graduated high school and lives with his family.

“We couldn’t feel the joy of Eid without Saif,” Salem said. “We spent the time waiting for him to come back safely. We pray and hope that he is safe and we ask anyone who has any information about him to contact the police.”

Police in Fujairah have launched an appeal for information on the case. They urge people who know the missing man or have any information as to his whereabouts to contact them on 09 205 1100, or 999.
