On Monday, President Sheikh Khalifa ordered the release of 704 inmates and pledged to settle their financial debts.

Yesterday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid pardoned 547 prisoners across the emirate.

Dubai’s Attorney General, Essam Al Humaidan, said the gesture reflected the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai’s desire to give the prisoners a second chance at life.

Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, ordered the release of 90 inmates, based on eligibility and good conduct.

Sheikh Humaid expressed his best wishes to the prisoners and said he hoped they would positively contribute to society, state news agency Wam reported.

In Ras Al Khaimah, Ruler Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi pardoned 272 inmates and pledged to settle any debts.

Every year ahead of religious holidays, the President and Rulers pardon prisoners and order any financial obligations to be settled.

Private sector employees will have three days off for Eid Al Adha this year.

The holiday starts on Monday, August 20, and ends on the Wednesday, with employees returning to work on Thursday, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said.
