OUR NINE FAVOURITE LOOKS FROM NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SO FAR

- Sarah Maisey

New York Fashion Week will continue until Friday. Here are some highlights from the shows thus far.

The wonderful clash of red and pink at Brandon Maxwell brings an unexpected pop of colour to the streets of New York.

In typical form, Self-Portrait plays with shape and silhouette. Beautifully cut, with ruffles and panels to hug or hide the body, this white dress that spills off the shoulder is a delight.

Tory Burch offers up slick city stripes. Layered and pleated, and paired with multiple bags, this look is for every urban dweller.

The best moment at Christian Cowan is undoubtedly this twopiece ensemble seemingly crafted out of an enormous hat.

Concept Korea may not be familiar to many, but its assured use of colour – reminiscent of the master itself – Prada – definitely makes it one to watch.

We love Dion Lee’s shoutit-from-the-rooftops orange. A relaxed fit with intriguing cut-outs around the hips makes the look pictured here a curious but striking mix of modest and not.

Celebrating his label’s 50th anniversary, Ralph Lauren allows himself space to play, and as the collection bounces from streetwear to patchwork, the standout moments are velvet gowns, so exquisitely shaped they move like molten mercury.

Like something for a modernday Audrey Hepburn, a belted suit and scarf from Kate Spade is the epitome of elegant.

Longchamp brings Parisian style to New York, with an effortless collection that channels the French capital’s famous style. Unexpected combinations and lashings of fringing show us why French women are always so chic.
