JIMENEZ IS WOLVES HERO TO LEAVE BURNLEY ROCK BOTTOM

-

Raul Jimenez’s goal was enough for Wolverhampton Wanderers to earn their second Premier League victory in a row as they prevailed 1-0 over Burnley at Molineux yesterday.

The scoreline flattered struggling Burnley, who remained in the game through the brilliance of goalkeeper Joe Hart, with the goalkeeper denying Helder Costa, Jimenez, Otto and Ruben Neves before he was finally beaten after 61 minutes.

Jimenez, who also scored in the draw with Everton during the opening game of the season last month, got his second goal of the campaign with a deft flick from a Matt Doherty cross.

“It’s a great experience to score again here in our home,” Jimenez told Sky Sports. “It’s our first three points here.

“Before all matches I imagine I’m going to score. It’s my purpose here, as a striker. And sometimes it goes like this.”

And the striker explained how he didn’t allow a missed chance early in the second half to affect him, saying: “The ball was a little bit behind me. But I know how to react to that and look forward.”

The win came after Wolves had won at West Ham United earlier this month.

Burnley have picked up only one point from their opening five games and are now bottom of the table, but manager Sean Dyche said he and his players would not be getting worried by the situation. “We have been down this road before. That is important now so we can realise it can be done.”
