Howe: Best still to come from Bournemouth

-

Eddie Howe believes there is more to come from his Bournemouth side after their 4-0 victory at 10-man Watford moved them up to fifth place in the Premier League table.

Two goals from Josh King, the first a penalty, and strikes from David Brooks and Callum Wilson gave Howe’s side a fifth win of the season at a wet Vicarage Road, with the home side having Belgian defender Christian Kabasele sent off for two bookable offences.

“We believe we are capable of beating anyone when we are on top of our game,” Howe told

Sky Sports. “It is good that I think there is room to improve. We like to stay in the background and as underdogs. We will go about our work in a controlled way.

“We are very pleased with the result. This is a tough place to come and Watford have been in good form.

“It wasn’t the perfect performance but we are happy.

“It’s a great start. It is so early it is difficult to make predictions. All we can do is work and try to achieve what our limit is.”

Wolverhampton Wanderers are another side who will go into the international break on a high as they are now seventh in the table after winning 1-0 at Crystal Palace.

The club promoted as champions from the Championship in the summer named an unchanged side for the eighth successive game, a league record, and the familiarity of the line-up continues to pay off as Matt Doherty’s second-half strike gave them the three points.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo believes the secret to their success was everyone knowing their roles and implementing them successfully.

“All the squad know their tasks, and with other options for sure the response would be good as well,” he said. “We go game by game – now it is the international break, players can go to their teams, enjoy it and and play some good football.”

Gylfi Sigurdsson was Everton’s hero as his long range effort clinched a 2-1 win at Leicester City.

Richarlison had given the Merseyside club an early lead, but that was cancelled out by Ricardo Pereira’s solo effort.

Leicester had captain Wes Morgan dismissed for two yellow cards and Sigurdsson struck from 30 yards with 13 minutes to go to give Marco Silva’s side their second successive victory.

Christopher Schlinder’s header denied Burnley a third win on the bounce as his second-half header earned Huddersfield Town a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.

Sam Vokes had put Burnley in front in the first half but they could not hang on.
