RAK on track to meet 1 million visitors target

Ras Al Khaimah recorded double-digit growth in internatio­nal visitors in the first three quarters of 2018, putting it on track to meet its target of attracting 1 million visitors by the end of the year, according to Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Developmen­t Authority. Tourism statistics were up across the board – including length of stay (3.19 days), reported visitor satisfacti­on (94 per cent), average daily room rates (Dh581) and occupancy rates (69 per cent). RAK’s future plans include a 47-villa luxury mountain camp, a “Survival Training Academy” and 64.72 kilometres of hiking and mountain biking trails to be opened in the next two years, said Haitham Mattar, chief executive of RAK Tourism Developmen­t Authority.
