Dubai Crown Prince spells out UAE agenda for the World Economic Forum
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, yesterday said the UAE was eager to aid international efforts to help humanity as he prepared to lead the country’s delegation at the World Economic Forum.
The 49th global gathering in Davos gets under way today, with the opportunities and challenges presented by rapid advancements in technology high on the agenda.
On Twitter, Sheikh Hamdan said the UAE was “keen to contribute to the enhancement of international co-operation” and assist global efforts to benefit humankind.
“It is thus essential to support platforms such as the World Economic Forum that seek to tackle future global challenges,” he said.
The UAE will take part in 10 sessions at the forum and will focus on the economy, advanced science, space exploration, artificial intelligence and environment and entrepreneurship.
The delegation includes Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, Obaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
Dr Al Zeyoudi will take part in several sessions, including one titled Informal Gathering of Global Economic Leaders: Avoiding Global Warming.
It will explore new ways to help change the attitudes of governments, companies, organisations and people in the environment sector.
More than 3,000 business leaders, entrepreneurs, economists, financial experts, government and representatives of the private sector and universities will attend.
