Two new mosques are opening in Abu Dhabi this month and will be ready to welcome worshippers during Ramadan.

Aldar Properties’ new mosque in Yas Acres is set to open for prayers on Friday. Another mosque at World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi will be open for worshippers on April 30.

The 3,000 square-metre mosque at Yas Acres will have the capacity for 2,450 people. It will serve not just local residents but surrounding communities as well.

It will have separate facilities for men and women and will also feature a library and a classroom for teaching the Quran.

The World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi mosque will be able to hold more than 900 worshippers and spans more than 1,950 square metres. Male and female worshippers will be welcome at the three-floor complex.

Aldar’s Reem Central Park Mosque, set to open later this year, will bring the total number of Aldar mosques to nine. The Reem mosque will be able to cater to 2,000 worshippers.

As with all of Aldar’s mosques, the three new buildings will be Pearl 2-rated – the second highest sustainability score as part of Abu Dhabi’s Estidama Pearl Rating System.

“Across each of our communities, we prioritise the creation of prayer and worship spaces to cater to the needs of our residents and those living in surrounding neighbourhoods,” said Fahad Al Mahmood, chief ventures officer at Aldar Development.
