UAE mourns death of Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan as regional leaders extend condolence­s

The UAE Presidenti­al Court has announced the death of Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan.

The court offered its condolence­s in a message carried by state news agency Wam on Thursday.

“The Presidenti­al Court extended heartfelt condolence­s and sympathies on the death of Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, praying to Allah Almighty to shower the deceased with His vast mercy, grant him eternal paradise and provide his family and relatives with patience and solace,” the message read. Funeral prayers were held for Sheikh Hazza at the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan the First Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistenc­e, were among the mourners.

Sheikh Hazza was laid to rest at Al Bateen Cemetery, Wam reported.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, paid tribute to Sheikh Hazza in a message social media, in which he expressed his “sincere condolence­s” to the Al Nahyan family.

Several regional leaders have extended condolence­s to President Sheikh Mohamed, the ruling family and the people of the UAE over Sheikh Hazza’s death.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent a message in which they expressed their “deepest and most sincere condolence­s” to Sheikh Mohamed and the family of Sheikh Hazza, the official Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

Sultan Haitham of Oman also sent a message of condolence, the Oman News Agency reported, while the Qatar News Agency said Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahma­n extended his sympathies to Sheikh Mohamed.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi “expressed his heartfelt condolence­s to the President and people of the UAE” over Sheikh Hazza’s death, “praying to Allah to have mercy upon his soul and provide his family and relatives with patience and solace”, The Egyptian Gazette reported.

Sheikh Hazza was the son of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed, who died in 2019.
