Triathlon seasons starts in Abu Dhabi this month

Yas Island’s day to night triathlon returns, and how to sign up for the ‘World’s Brightest 5K’ fun run

It’s the perfect sport for multi-taskers. If you’re a fan of running, swimming and cycling, one of the biggest triathlons in Abu Dhabi takes place this month. TriYas features a swim through Yas Marina, a cycle on the track at Yas Marina Circuit and a run around Yas Marina. The Sprint category features a 750m swim, a 22km cycle and a 5.5km run, while the Olympics category features a 1,500m swim, a 38km ride and a 10km run.

Sponsored by Daman’s ActiveLife!, it’s the seventh year for this event, and some 1,500 athletes are expected to take part. All participants get a goodie bag with bib and bike numbers, a swimming cap, a finisher’s T-shirt, and a finisher’s medal. You’ll be hungry after you’ve completed the race so you also get entry to the event’s pasta party.

TriYas are also holding training sessions in the run-up to the event at locations all over Abu Dhabi, including New York University Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat, Khalifa City and at the cycle track in Al Wathba. Visit the Yas Marina Circuit website for more details.
