Whether you’re just looking to soak up a little of the atmosphere without facing a hefty bill, or want to introduce your children to the event, a ticket for the familyfriendly general entry area is what you need. Grandstand access is limited and there are no bars, but there are plenty of food options and tickets are just Dhs25, with under-12s going free. A word of warning though – this year general entry is available only in advance from the Meydan box office.

If you’re looking to experience the famous party vibes, Apron Views is where you want to be, with tickets from Dhs450. Situated between the track and the main Grandstand, the Apron plays host to the infamous Bubble Lounge and Barasti bars, as well as to the day’s second most closely fought contest, the Style Stakes. Lively and child-free, this is the place to go for plenty of fun – though, ladies, we’d caution against your spikiest stilettos.

Beyond the Apron, the sky is the limit for the city’s biggest spenders. Sadly, the Grandstand suites are already sold out this year (not surprising, seats were a snip at Dhs6,750 each) but you can still console yourself at the exclusive Cigar Suite (Dhs4,750), or with afternoon tea on The Terrace (Dhs3,250).
