THE COnCERt

-

Over the last three years, the Meydan main stage has welcomed Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue and Jennifer Lopez, while previous years have seen everyone from Toni Braxton to Seal tread the boards. This year, Australian singer-songwriter Sia will close the Dubai World Cup proceedings on March 25. Famous for her fame-dodging gimmicks (like hiding her face when she performs, and using 14-yearold dancer Maddie Ziegler as a physical stand in), Sia’s warbling, raspy voice has been well known in the music industry for decades, but hit chart-topping heights only a few years ago with smash hit songs such as Chandelier, Elastic Heart, Alive, and her most recent track Cheap Thrills from her critically-acclaimed seventh studio album. She’s also penned lyrics for everyone in Tinseltown it seems; she’s responsible for Rihanna’s Diamonds, Beyonce’s Pretty Hurts and NeYo’s Let Me Love You. March 25
