A new (and kind of strange) fitness fad uses your arms to pedal
Did you know there’s a workout you can try here in Abu Dhabi that’ll see you pedal your arms (not your legs) around a special kind of bicycle?
Dubbed ‘ kranking’, this upper body cardio workout involves sitting or standing next to a stationary machine, or krankcycle as it is officially called, and spinning your arms as fast as you can. Created by ultra-endurance South African cyclist Jonathan Goldberg (he’s also behind the hugely successful concept of spinning), proponents of kranking claim it’s good for your core and strengthens your cardiovascular system.
The Abu Dhabi Country Club offers both mixed and ladies-only sessions on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. Classes range from 30 to 45 minutes and can accommodate up to 30 people.
