STEP SISTERS
DIRECTOR: Charlie Stone III CAST: Naturi Naughton, Eden Sher, Alessandra Torresani, Megalyn Echikunwoke Groan - that’s what you’ll do when you find out that this teen drama is less about dysfunction and more about dance. Centred around black student Jamilah (Megalyn Echikunwoke), who trades lessons in step-dancing in order to attend her dream law school, this misguided attempt proves how far behind Hollywood is when it comes to ‘staying woke’. Cultural insensitivity aside, this movie even fails to rate as a dance film. We are huge fans of the Step Up series but here, the choreography feels forced. A major step down.
