Hearty, healthy food from an eco-friendly café

-

api is a destination for the health-conscious but it’s not your typical Dubai healthy café. Forget going raw or vegan – instead, tuck into hearty meals like sirloin steak (Dhs40), hot smoked salmon (Dhs42) and chunky sweet potato wedges (Dhs18), along with fresh salads and sauces, and a barbecue menu that includes burgers and hot dogs. The key is that the chefs use only the best ingredients: even the soft serve ice cream (Dh20) is made from scratch, using high-quality, organic dairy and organic sugar. The one “on-trend” health food that

Hyou’ll find here is bone broth (Dhs16/ Dhs20). Made by boiling the roasted bones of chicken or beef for hours, this savoury elixir is said to contain important vitamins and minerals, and tastes great sipped with a slice of warm sourdough slathered in butter.

Hapi is also just about the greenest place we’ve been (and we’re not just talking about the massive tree in the centre of the dining area). The cutlery is made from corn starch and completely biodegradable, while the restaurant is free from plastic water bottles – still and sparkling water is served on tap. Elsewhere, the café shares a space with Parkour DXB, while upstairs there’s a bright, spacious room designated for fitness classes like yoga, capoeira and meditation. There’s even a consultation room, for those suffering anything from digestion issues to fatigue. It really is a one-stop shop if you’re looking to up your health game in 2017. Warehouse 42, Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz, Dubai, daily 8am to 8pm. Tel: (04) 2251807. Taxi: Alserkal Avenue. hapi.ae
