Keaton on Kroc
In Michael Keaton plays McDonald’s kingpin Ray Kroc.
What attracted you to playing Ray Kroc?
“I said to [director] John Lee Hancock, you might want to get somebody else to do this. I said, if you want me to soften this, I’m not your guy”
Why were you initially apprehensive?
“I was only wary in, ‘Is this palatable enough for me to get my money back?’ I said to Hancock, before we do this, if there’s a part of you that wants to waver… but he didn’t.”
Kroc takes some big risks – have you taken any similar gambles in life?
“I always bet on me; Batman was an enormous risk. If you go down in that you go down in a big way, and I would have needed a yeoman’s effort to resurrect myself.”
