Superstar DJ

Sasha is still very much on top

-

Aveteran of the acid house explosion and one of the original superstar DJs, Sasha is feeling justifiably proud after his Scene Delete output for Late Night Tales was named one of the albums of 2016 by Dancing Astronaut. What’s more, both dates for his Barbican live show in London, scheduled for May, sold out within 45 minutes, making it one of the fasting selling events of its kind there. Sasha is appealing to fans old and new, then, helped in no small measure by his Last Night On Earth label. Now in its fifth year, it’s a platform for inspiring talent. It has also showcased well-respected, long-established players in the game such as Henry Saiz, Max Cooper and more.

Since the fresh-faced Alexander Coe first frequented the Hacienda in Manchester in that seismic year of 1988, he’s never been one for looking back. “I don’t like getting nostalgic,” admitted Sasha. “It makes me feel a bit old. I’ve been asked to do a lot of things where the line-ups were more… I’d say they were heritage line-ups. People want me to play old sets and go back to Hacienda-type music. I’d rather be playing a load of brand new techno.”

Which is exactly what you’ll hear when Sasha steps behind the decks. February 17
