King’s Day

King’s Day is the annual Dutch national holiday in honour of King Willem-Alexander. On April 27 the entire population of the country celebrates the day by taking to the streets dressed in the national colour – orange. And boy, do the Dutch celebrate! Waterways are filled with decorated boats, sidewalks are covered with flea markets, live music is played on stages throughout towns, and parks are secured for children’s fun and games. April 27
