Staycations and relaxing retreats without leaving Dubai

01 THE REVAMPED CLASSIC: Fairmont The Palm

One of Dubai’s longest running hotels, the Fairmont has revitalised its fitness scene in recent months, and turned into a bona fide wellness destination. Plus, it’s got some of the most wallet-friendly room rates going for UAE residents and it’s familyfriendly too. What you get: While there’s no set wellness programme, there are loads of healthy activities to choose from including yoga (sunset and sunrise); paddleboarding; PRAMA by Pavigym, an interactive workout room; and aquabiking, to name a few. You can even try a healthy cooking class to learn the tricks of the trade for when you’re at home. For your emotional health, try adding a State Of One treatment to your spa massage – it’s a meditation session that will leave you feeling mentally refreshed.

Try it if: You want a healthy holiday that won’t break the bank. Don’t bother if: Your idea of a staycation involves doing as little as possible.

We recommend: The State Of One treatment combines a deeply relaxing aromatherapy massage with guided meditation, yogi breathing and Tibetan singing bowls. The overall effect is out-of-this-world blissful and it’s only available at the Fairmont.

How much? Rates start at Dhs585 for half board during the summer, and classes start at Dhs75 per session.
