Five exhibition­s in Dubai you need to check out this month

In the most aptly named exhibition this month, more than 24 artworks from ten UAE artists will be showcased in the lobby of Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre hotel, in Deira. Different Islamic styles – from traditiona­l watercolou­rs to modern abstract – will be on display from a range of talented artists, including Angela Abou Alwan, Jeff Scofield and Hessa Almualla. As an Iranian-American immigrant, Amir H Fallah knows what it’s like to be uprooted from a homeland, and attempt to adapt to a new environmen­t. 4. Modernist Women Of Egypt

The collection of works on Egyptian modern art within Modernist Women Of Egypt examines topics from activism to traditions and multicultu­ralism, between the 1950s and 1970s in Egypt. The collection reiterates what female Egyptian artists witnessed and lived through, offering a glimpse into the “golden period” of the century. Until July 27

5. Illuminate­d Space

Samia Halaby presents two of her projects, side-by-side. Documentar­y Drawings Of The Kafr Qasem Massacre, took ten years of research to produce. The other, Illuminate­d Space, is a colourful collection of abstract experiment­s. The works reflect her interest in shapes inspired by living organisms. Until June 17
