Pulitzer- winning journalist Paul Salopek on his 21,000- mile journey and the many things he’s learning from it

The smartly named Cereal Killer recently opened their first branch at Dubai Mall and I was as excited as the kids around me as I chose from their many ‘ cereal cocktails’. I picked Shooty Shooty Bang Bang ( Dh26) — a chocolately concoction that was a tad too sweet — but I’m going back to try their Sticky Monkey and Unicorn Poop! — Janice Rodrigues My goddaughter’s just turned one and already giving her mama a run, so a personalised, ‘ non- princessy’ book about an intrepid kid who meets many creatures in the search for her name seemed perfect. Lost My Name is intelligent, full of adventure and customisable at length. A book about your own name! Eeep. I hope she likes it… once she learns to read, of course. — Karen Ann Monsy Last Friday saw me at Yalumba, Le Meridien, for the launch of Friday Brunchology. Yes, Friday brunching is a science now and it was fun to hang out al fresco, in a garden- type setting, great food and beverages, games galore, retro music, dance floor capers. At Dh499 a pop, the live art of this science can now be a Friday fixture. Brunch away! — Sushmita Bose
