PRICED OUT

With Ironman 70.3 Wimbleball being cancelled and both Ironman Bolton and Wales not selling out yet, I wonder if Ironman events are just becoming too expensive. It would be great if they offered a staggered payment system too. I wanted to do Wales this year but can’t afford it, so I’m putting money away each month so that come the release date for 2018 I can pay for it there and then. If they allowed you to pay it off by a deadline it would be much better. Chris Alden, Facebook Ironman’s response: Ironman have expanded the race calendar significantly in both the UK and Europe in recent years, providing athletes with more choice of where and when to race. While this may mean that established events may take longer to sell out, we don’t believe that price is a factor in this and race entries have not increased in price by that much. As regards payment in stages, while this has been considered, the complexities of it are too great to make it an option.
