A softshell that offers waterproofing? Enter Ashmei’s Ultimate Jacket for all-round versatility this off-season

Okay, so you may pay a premium, but Brit brand Ashmei’s run kit is invariably the best that money can buy, offering loads of performance perks in a really stylish package.

Their Ultimate Softshell Jacket is a rarity in that it offers frontal waterproofing to a 10,000mm (moderate to heavy) rating in a softshell package, and with all the breathability benefits that softshell provides. Said breathability and ventilation is increased further by the inclusion of 38% Merino wool on the back, a perforated rear strip and under-arm zip openings.

Aside from the high material and manufacturing quality, where Ashmei really excel is in the added details, with the Ultimate Softshell featuring a water-resistant zipper, a rear zipped pocket for gels, rear and chest reflective strips, and an internal MP3 cable router. We’ll be testing the Ultimate Softshell as part of a major men’s and women’s run jacket test next issue, out on 7 November.
