Caroline Livesey’s Orbea Ordu

-

The Ordu is a record-beating TT bike, which is UCI compliant but also versatile, clever and simple. I’ve ridden various TT bikes over the years, but this is by far my favourite. It was comfortable as soon as I got on it, easy to adjust to my exact fit and feels so responsive and fast, especially with the Parcours wheel set-up. The geometry is configured with multisport in mind so it doesn’t put as much pressure on my back and hips as other brands have.

The Ordu is a clever bike, with clever integration options for Ironman racing. There’s the seat tube storage which I use for my spares and tools, and the triple bottle mount on the down tube for hydration or additional spares. Another key thing for me is that the bike is easy to take apart and reassemble for packing into my Bonza Bike Box. I’ve never had any mechanicals with it after travelling. My position has developed over many years of riding, and I regularly check and tweak it to make sure it’s still the best position for me. I’ve done testing with AeroCoach on the track, and from that data I’ve developed my position.

1

I ride Parcours wheels with various combinations of Disc, Chrono (deep rim) and Passista (middepth) to suit different courses and conditions.

2

I have a bottle mounted behind the saddle too, but other than that I like to keep it clean and simple.

3

I have the ISM PS 1.1, which I love. It’s the first truly comfortable saddle I’ve ridden.

4

I ride a 54/39 front with an 11/28 at the back – Durace and FSA with an FSA power box power meter.

5

I use a TorHans Bento X and Aero Z water bottle for the best aerodynamic nutrition storage and hydration.

6

With freeflow forks, a tapered head tube, and a monocoque frame with Mondragon tube shapes, the aerodynamics of this bike are unbeatable and it’s super light.
