ENTRY-LEVEL WETSUITS

-

Buying your first wetsuit will be one of the most important triathlon purchases you’ll ever make. Here’s what to look for...

COMFORT

Comfort and fit are imperative when picking your wetsuit, whether you’re a beginner or top-end athlete. Trying before you buy is essential advice, or ensure that there’s a decent returns policy if you buy online. Look for a close but unrestrictive fit throughout.

EASE OF REMOVAL

There are few more frustrating triathlon race-day experiences than struggling to remove your wetsuit while T1 is emptying of athletes. The Zone3 Vision features the brand’s Pro Speed Cuffs on the arms and legs to aid and speed up wetsuit removal.

ZIPPER

We’d recommend the traditional downwards zipper over a reverse zipper for beginner athletes due to the ease of getting it on. Ensure that the neckline offers a secure yet unrestrictive fit and that the zipper is securely fastened when you’re in action to avoid rubbing.

BUOYANCY

Also think about what type of swimmer you are when choosing your suit. Do your legs, chest or bum sink? If so, pick a suit with increased neoprene thickness (the Vision’s legs are the maximum 5mm) in the specific areas to aid your buoyancy in the water.
