Pearl Izumi Tri Fly Elite V6 tri shoes
They may lack the reverse strap of most tri-bike shoes, but the Pearl Izumi Tri Fly Elite V6 offer a host of classic tri-shoe benefits elsewhere. Getting into them after mounting the bike is a doddle thanks to the lack of tongues, which also aids bike-course ventilation, and they’re pitched for sockless riding due to the seamless upper.
There’s also a replaceable heel bumper to help with running in transition and an oversized heel pull for easy on/off performance in T1 and T2. The light, per-shoe weight is 255g for a men’s UK size 9, with much of that weight reduction down to the minimal 5mm stack height and integrated carbon plate on the outsole aimed at enhancing power transfer. Nonetheless, there are still comfort considerations at play, with a dual-density EVA insole included for superior arch support and endurance rideability.
