QR PRSIX DISC
For American pro Ironman athlete Matt Hanson, nothing beats his Quintana Roo for power transfer
I’ve been working with Quintana Roo for four years now, and have been riding the PRsix for all of that time – switching to the PRsix Disc this year. There are a few distinct differences: with disc brakes, you know you’ll have reliable stopping power whatever the conditions. No one likes riding in the rain with carbon-rim wheels! Then there’s the thru-axel that comes as standard on the Disc – I noticed the difference in power transfer the first time I rode it.
Quintana Roo was the first company to launch a triathlon-specific frame. It’s so easy to work on – you really only need three Allen keys to make adjustments to it. It also makes the PRsix bikes very aerodynamic and stiff. I’m constantly seeking ways to optimise my riding position, as well as sniffing out the best equipment to make my overall set-up as fast as possible. My saddle has raised significantly over the past six months, which has allowed me to get my head lower. But I have regular Skype sessions with coaches Matt Bottrill and Julie Dibens, and I’ll be doing some testing when I come to the UK to train with Matt later this summer.
