A lush Swiss cheese plant leaf (‘Monstera deliciosa’ to give it its proper name) makes a bold, graphic statement in a room – and one of the advantages of a faux option is that you won’t mark the inside of your treasured vase with water. For a more impressive display (and this would require a sizeable vase), Cox & Cox (0330 333 2123, coxandcox.co.uk) sells a Botanical Monstera Stem (right) with several leaves, H133 x W70 x D70cm, £40. Always use wire cutters on faux stems if you need to trim them to fit.
