25 Beautiful Homes

Welcome

-

For most of the summer, we don’t draw the curtains in our house as we’re not overlooked. Which is fine when you have decorated a room and left the window bare while you decide what to do. But, as the nights have darkened, I needed to decide pretty quickly about one particular window. We previously had curtains, but I opted to replace it with a Roman blind with a simple box pelmet, and fabric that introduces subtle pattern into the space. Fabric curtains or blinds add softness, as well as helping to deaden the noise in rooms with lots of hard surfaces. A window treatment can make or break a scheme, it can be too overpowering or block out too much light, so thought is needed. Thankfully, each month there are plenty of great ideas in this magazine, including some for those tricky window shapes. But whatever your needs, I hope you find inspiration before the cold weather really arrives.
