Fourth win in a row for the Reds

SCARBOROUGH ......... 0 STANLEY...................... 2

ACCRINGTON Stanley’s impressive pre-season form continued after they picked up a win against Evo-Stik Division One North side Scarborough Athletic.

Goals from Billy Kee and Josh Windass helped Stanley run out winners at Silver Royd, making it four straight friendly wins.

John Coleman named a strong Accrington team, and it didn’t take them long to make the breakthrough.

Kee was only a late replacement in the team after triallist Jason St Juste picked up a knock in the warm up, but he took full advantage of his opportunity after scoring from close range to make it 1-0.

The Reds continued to pile on the pressure, with the Scarborough goalkeeper forced to make a couple of smart saves to keep out efforts from Kee and Marcus Carver.

Stanley carried their lead into the second half, and they nearly scored again just after the restart when substitute Seamus Conneely shot narrowly off-target.

It was another substitute that was causing the majority of problems, with Windass smashing an effort over the crossbar.

After continuing to threaten, he did manage to get a goal late on, scoring from the penalty spot to help his side pick up a comfortable 2-0 victory.

The win against Scarborough comes after Coleman’s side also defeated Burnley, Nelson and AFC Darwen.

Their pre-season did start with a defeat though, losing 2-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers earlier this month.

Accrington’s next pre-season match sees them travel to Merseyside to face Northern Premier League side Marine FC on Saturday.
