-

FIVE redevelopment sites have been identified for a multi-million pound new homes project in Rishton.

The plans for the redevelopment of the canalside have been revealed by Hyndburn Council.

Under the proposals, five sites have been identified for homes – Bridgefield Mill and Spring Mill on Spring Street, Victoria Mill, Wheatfield Mill and Rishton Mill on Parker Street, and Daisy Hill Mill on Ashworth Street.

The plans state that the vision for the project will be for ‘the former mill sites transformed from industrial uses to new residential led development that extend and integrate with the existing neighbourhoods along Spring Street and Parker Street.’

Proposals have been approved by the cabinet and a four week public consultation is being planned.

Rishton councillor and Portfolio holder for Regeneration and Housing Clare Cleary said: “The draft has been produced following two rounds of consultation and the council is required to carry out a four week consultation.”

Council leader Miles Parkinson said: “It’s extremely pleasing to see progress is being made.”

The Rishton canal side project is forecast to be completed in 2026.
