Accrington Observer

Do you know these faces from the 70s?

- GARTH DAWSON

AMBULANCE staff from Accrington are shown in this weeks top picture.

They were snapped by the former Observer photographer in 1977.

Garth said: “The picture shows members of Accrington ambulance station on Broad Oak Road giving a presentation to the chief officer, with other members of staff looking on.

Our next picture shows a supermarket cricket team, also in 1977.

Garth said: “This is the cricket team from Asda superstore in Accrington but I don’t know who they played or where.”

Our final photograph this week shows the land at the end of Queens Road West and Whalley Road called ‘The Mount’ in 1971.

Garth said: “It is now occupied by the EMSI Unit run by the NHS and previously a large private house stood there.” Do you recognise the staff at Accrington ambulance station, or know who the cricket team was playing?

Why not let us know and send us your memories to our letters page?

We want to publish your old pictures. They can be from any era up to the 1990s.

Please bring them to our Market” Hall office or email them to accringtonobserver@ menmedia.co.uk and tell us why they are important to you. Contact Garth at garth@dawsong84. freeserve.co.uk.
