HOUSE RESCUE

FIREFIGHTERS were called to assist paramedics in rescuing a man in his 60s from his basement.

Crews were called to Whalley Road in Clayton-le-Moors after the man had fallen and injured himself earlier in his backyard, before managing to crawl back into the basement of his house and call for help.

They used a stretcher to get him out and he was taken to hospital for treatment. The incident happened at around 4am on Friday, July 24.
