Sponsorship sees pupils get to grips with adventure week

-

TWO students from a specialist school took part in a week-long course at an outdoor activities centre.

Rachel Shelley and Abigail Warwick, from Broadfield Specialist School in Oswaldtwistle, visited the Calvert Trust in the Lake District with their carer and assistant school teacher Anna Pye.

The youngsters enjoyed sailing, canoeing, climbing, trapeze, horse riding, land yachting, gorge walking and cycling.

The experience was provided through the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle and the Trust. Lee Bentley, community co-ordinator at Broadfield, said: “Anna Pye and myself are full of admiration for how Rachel and Abigail became involved with all the various activities, many of them very challenging.

“We are very appreciative of the Rotary Club for the invitation and sponsorship to attend such a worthwhile course.”
