THE environmen­tal group Prospects will hold its next meeting in September.

The meeting planned for Tuesday, August 4 has been cancelled and the group will next meet on Tuesday, September 1 at the People’s Centre from 7.15pm to 9pm.

New members are welcome and if you want to get involved call Colin Cooper on 01254 885007.

RESIDENTS are being invited to an ‘afternoon tea and film’ event held at Rishton Methodist Church.

The film is called Local Hero, made in 1983 and starring Burt Lancaster, about an American oil company which sends a man to Scotland to buy an entire village where they want to build a refinery.

The event will take place on Wednesday, August 5 at 2pm.

Entry is free, however donations are requested towards the cost of the afternoon tea.

A SUPERHERO and princess party has been organised at Primetime on Stourton Street for children up to 11.

It will take place on Thursday, August 13 from 10am to 11.30am. Booking is essential so call the Copperhous­e Children’s Centre on 01254 887116.

Entry costs £2 per child and fancy dress is encouraged.
