CAPTAINING the England Under-19s team will be a fantastic challenge for Lancashire teenager Haseeb Hameed, says Mark Chilton.

Hameed, 18, will lead his country in a four-day Test against Australia at Durham, starting on August 4, having been a regular for the Under-19s during the past two years.

Former Lancashire captain Chilton, the county’s second XI coach, said: “I’m delighted for Has, and I’m not surprised they’ve named him captain knowing the kind of character he is.”
