Enfield beaten on the final ball

LANCASHIRE LEAGUE CRICKET: T20 MATT JONES

IN the Pride of Pendle Group, Enfield were beaten by East Lancs by one wicket in a thriller at Dill Hall Lane.

Enfield won the toss and elected to bat. Profession­al Diego Rosier and Adam Bracewell put on 34 for the first wicket, before Lewis Pearson (1-26) had Bracewell caught by Mo Ahmed for 16.

Four runs later Shahrukh Khan sent back Rosier for 15, leaving Enfield 38-2.

Captain Tiarnen Hamill (21) and Joe Wrigley (23) then put on a partnershi­p worth 59, until East Lancs profession­al Andries Gous removed them to leave Enfield 104-4.

Further contributi­ons from Charlie Jackson (20 not out) and Liam Bedford (19) saw Enfield reach 146-6. Shahrukh Khan picked up 3-13.

In reply, Gous top scored with 45 with the away side winning with the final ball of the innings. Gous and Mini Bhada added 54 for the first wicket, which included the South African smashing a 16-ball 45.

However, Wrigley sent back Gous as he was caught by Jacob Johnson.

Ben Dowling then sent back Mini Bhada (9) and John Turner (6) to leave East Lancs 77-3.

Mo Bhada (31) and Niall Boyle (20) added 43 with East Lancs on 120-3 but a collapse led by Ben Dowling (4-18) and Wrigley saw them fall to 138-9.

Two runs were required off the final ball, which was hit by Lewis Pearson down the ground to give the away side victory.

In the Blond Witch Group, Accrington beat Rishton by eight runs in a close game at Blackburn Road. Jake Clarke top scored with 47 while pro- fessional Ockert Erasmus added 34 as Accrington posted 118-9 after being 48-5. Brad Boddie was the pick of the bowlers as he took 4-32.

Erasmus then took 3-16 and David Ormerod 2-12 as Accrington restricted Rishton to 110-8 off 20 overs. Profession­al Shaun Von Berg top scored with 34, while Scott Greaves contribute­d 15, Matt Nuttall 14 not out and Brad Boddie 12.

Church beat Todmorden by 10 runs at Centre Vale. Church won the toss and decided to bat, sub profession­al Christiaan Jonker top scored with 54, Bilal Abbas contribute­d 36, Levi Wolfenden 20 and Craig Fergusson 19 as Church posted 152-6. Andrew Sutcliffe took 2-20 and Matt Collins 2-26.

Abbas then took 2-26 and Levi Wolfenden 2-36 as Church managed to restrict Todmorden to 142-6. Ben Sutcliffe top scored with 27.
