Accy can’t stop rivals

LANCASHIRE LEAGUE

ENFIELD beat local rivals Accrington by one wicket in a tense game at Thorneyholme Road. Accrington won the toss and choose to bat.

Professional Ockert Erasmus top scored with 66, while Stuart Crabtree added 27 and Graeme Sneddon 26 as Accrington posted 185-10. Enfield captain Tiarnen Hamill recorded figures of 4-28 while Ben Dowling took 2-45 and Simon O’Loughin 2-56.

Jimmy Hayhurst took 5-37 but it couldn’t prevent defeat as Enfield professional Diego Rosier hit a match-winning 73. Lewis Wright also added 23, Joe Wrigley 19, Charlie Jackson 17 and Ben Dowling 16 not out as Enfield reached Accrington’s total in 44.3 overs.

In the other Hyndburn derby, Church thrashed Rishton by 8 wickets at Blackburn Road. Church won the toss and elected to field. Mohammed Adnan (3-22) and Kamran Basharat (3-29) both took three wickets as Church bowled out Rishton for 102 in 47.3 overs. Sub professional Qaiser Abbas also took 2-30 off 17 overs. Mo Patel top scored with 23 and professional Shaun Von Berg added 19.

Levi Wolfenden then top scored with 38 as Church chased down Rishton’s target in 28.3 overs. Josh Scully (17) was the first batsmen to depart as he was bowled by Von Berg. Matt Lambert (1-24) sent back Wolfenden with the score on 81-2 before Bilal Abbas (32 not out) and Qaiser Abbas (13 not out) won the game for Church.
