JANE Lesley Beale, of Dorchester Avenue, Oswaldtwis­tle, died suddenly at home on Friday, May 27, aged 68.

During her life Jane worked as a sales representa­tive for Hertz prior to running her own business in clothing. She also enjoyed collecting antiques.

Jane sadly leaves her brother Andrew, her uncle Albert, her mother Irene and also her uncle Michael.

She was also a good friend and neighbour.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held on Friday, June 10 at 12.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please but donations are welcome in memory of Jane for Cancer Research UK c/o funeral director Barton and Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwis­tle. MRS Mary Spittle nee Walshaw, of Coniston Avenue, Accrington died on Thursday, May 26, aged 83.

In her early years in Ireland, Mary worked in a chemist shop, joined the auxiliary fire brigade and after moving to the UK she worked for 22 years as a welfare and teaching assistant at St Mary’s RC Infant and Junior School in Oswaldtwis­tle.

In her early years, she played piano and double bass. Later on in life she enjoyed reading, gardening and the company of her extended family.

She loved crosswords, reading novels and using her computer and she enjoyed annual holidays visiting her family in Canada.

Wife of the late Cyril, she leaves children Jacqueline, Philip and Paul, grandchild­ren Karen, Joanne, David, Sonia, Philip and Anthony and great-grandchild­ren Lexi, Madison, Faye, Brooke and Emily.

Requiem Mass, conducted by the Rev Mgr John Daly, will be held at St Mary’s RC Church in Oswaldtwis­tle on Tuesday, June 14 at 10am.

This will be followed by burial at Immanuel Churchyard, New Lane, Oswaldtwis­tle, at 11.15am.

SHEILA DUDLEY

SHEILA Dudley, of White Ash Estate, Oswaldtwis­tle, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 6, aged 77.

Sheila was probably best known as a familiar face in Riley’s General Store on Union Road, where she worked for many years.

She later left to look after her grandchild­ren for a few years, before working at Asda on the checkouts up until she retired.

Afterwards she filled her time with a part time job in a café at Oswaldtwis­tle Mills.

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crosswords puzzles. She took also took pleasure in holidays abroad especially to Malta, Majorca and Cyprus. She loved watching the soaps on the telly.

Every now and then Sheila took delight in giving her home a make-over and she loved updating the décor and furnishing­s.

Later in life she became a committee member of the White Ash Social Centre, where she helped organise and fund trips and events.

Sheila was a dearly loved wife of Pete, a loving sister of Linda, a much loved mum of Michelle, Peter, Michael and David, a dear mother-in-law of Mick, Jackie and Cath, a treasured grandma of Shelley, Sammy, Chloe, Charlotte, Callum, Joanne, Rachel, Kate and Michael and also a cherished great-grandma of Curtis, Oliver, Lily, Bella and Elena.

Her funeral service will take place on Monday, June 13, at 12.30pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

DOROTHY OLLETT

DOROTHY Ollett nee Tomlinson, passed away peacefully at Springhill Care Home, in Accrington, surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 2, aged 95.

Wife of the late Walter, she was the loving mother of Dorothy, Kathleen and the late Walter, mother-in-law to Elaine, Barry and Richard, grandmothe­r to Gillian, Dean, Kathryn, Melanie and Barry, and greatgrand­mother to Jake, Alex, Tyler, Dan, Leonie, Shane, Max and Sam.

Dorothy was due to be cremated at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Thursday, June 9 at 1pm officiated by Rev Vernon Marshall.

The family wish to thank all the staff at Springhill Care Home for all their care and attention to Dorothy during the last four years.

She will be missed by all. Family flowers only.

BARBARA CLIFFE

BARBARA Ann Cliffe died peacefully in her sleep with her husband Richard at her side.

She was mother to Beverly, Yvonne, Elizabeth, Sharon, James, Richard and Martyn, and daughters-in-law Leanne and Anita.

A loving nan, who was also the former secretary of the Church Central Residents Associatio­n, she will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Mourners are requested not to wear black clothing.

Dearly loved husband of the late Charlotte Winder, he was uncle of Christine, Marion and Alan.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 22 with a service conducted by Rev Ken Howles followed by cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

MR John Gregson, of Oswaldtwis­tle, died on Thursday, June 2.

His funeral service will be held in Immanuel Parish Church, Oswaldtwis­tle at 2.30pm on Friday, June 10 prior to interment in the churchyard.
