Singers in popular return for roof fund

-

A POPULAR choir is returning to Great Harwood to help with a church roof appeal.

The A Cappella Singers will perform at St Bartholomew’s Church later this month to help the fundraising efforts for roof repairs.

It will be the sixth time the choir has attended the church and organisers said the concert will have a summer theme.

They will also work alongside Grange Brass, a local brass band, for the event on Sunday, June 26, starting at 2pm.

Martin Sales, of the A Cappella Singers, said: “The singers have performed here in Great Harwood previously and it is the place where they were formed.

“They first met in 1995 at St John’s Church, in the vestry. Unfortunately the church has since been demolished.

“St Bartholomew’s Church have again asked us to perform for the first time since 2014.”

The A Cappella Singers have built up a large following of people who have supported them from the start, having given concerts in the local area, Fylde Coast, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and West Yorkshire, where they have huge support from the public.

Martin added: “This concert will present music for the time of year, with a concert of well liked items.

“It will include uplifting works including Five Childhood Lyrics, Shenandoah, Mad dogs and Englishmen, Fishermen of England, Blaydon Races, Blow the Wind Southerly, She’s a Lassie from Lancashire, and many other well known items.

“This anticipated concert has already showed great interest by many people in the area.”

Tickets are now on sale at £7, with accompanied children under 12 paying £1, and includes a programme. For more information or to book tickets call Joyce Miller on 01254 884247.
