Mercer House given £36,000 funding boost

-

A SOCIAL enterprise group in Clayton-leMoors has been given a £36,000 funding boost.

Mercer House 1842 Ltd has received £36,564 from People’s Health Trust using money raised by HealthHeal Community Interest Company through The Health Lottery. The funding will allow Mercer House to expand its work in the community by employing a volunteer co-ordinator who will work with people to develop more activities locally.

Nick Collingridge, founder of the social enterprise, said: “We already have volunteers giving a great deal of their time and skills to help make Clayton-le-Moors a great place.

“This grant will help us harness the enthusiasm of our existing volunteers as well as getting more people on board. We will also be looking at putting on even more activities at the Arthur Wilson Centre, turning it into a real hub in the community.

“We are pleased that the People’s Health Trust recognise the good work already being done and have given us the opportunity to do more.

“This is fantastic news for the people of Claytonle-Moors and I urge everyone to keep a look out for what opportunities there will be for everyone.

“We will also welcome new volunteers to come on board and help us create a Clayton-le-Moors where there is something for everyone to get involved with.”

John Hume, chief executive of People’s Health Trust, said the project will bring ‘real value to the health and well being of the local community’.
