Homecare staff delighted at good rating from care inspectors

-

AN Oswaldtwistle home care agency has been rated as ‘Good’ following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

Willowbrook Homecare, based on Union Road in Oswaldtwistle, was inspected by the care body last month.

The service, which provides personal care to people living in their own homes, was rated as good in four out of five inspection areas, including how effective, caring and responsive the service was.

The safety of the service was rated as requiring improvement after inspectors found that a robust recruitment procedure for staff had not always been followed.

However, in the overall report, inspectors found that people they had spoken to said they felt safe using the service.

The report stated: “One person commented ‘The carers are very nice and courteous to me.’

“Relatives also expressed satisfaction with the service, one relative told us: ‘I have every confidence in my family member’s regular carer. I know they are always in safe hands.’”

Elaine Brady, managing director of Willowbrook said: “I would like to say that I am absolutely delighted with our CQC report and it is testament to the hard work, loyalty and commitment of all the carers and management team employed by Willowbrook Homecare, ensuring that our clients receive a high standard of care and enable clients to remain as independent as possible within their own home.

“It has been a difficult few years with all the austerity cuts that the care industry has had to face.”
