Teenage band revel in their first paid gig at pub

-

A TEENAGE boyband have spoken of their delight after performing their first paid gig.

Friends Harvey Nicholson, Daniel Quinn, and Joe Marshall, all from Rishton, and Harry Lord from Great Harwood, set up ‘Event Horizon’ last year and have now held their first concert at the Victoria pub in Baxenden.

More than 50 people including family, friends and local pubgoers watched the lads, all 17, play a variety of music including Britpop covers and their own songs.

The four friends set up the band after meeting through St Christopher’s High School.

Harvey who is the drummer in the group, said: “Myself and Daniel have been friends since we were kids and looking for people to start a band.

“Joe and Harry both went to our school and they are great so asked them to join us.

“We have been practising for over a year now.

“This was our first paid gig and it went really well. The pub have asked us to come back.

“We had the crowd up and going and it couldn’t have gone any better I don’t think.

“We did have some nerves but put it to the back of our minds. We have been rehearsing and practising so much it was just second nature.

“We have had a lot of positive comments.”

Harvey, who now studies at Burnley College, said they are looking to perform at more venues over the next few months.

He said: “We are just looking for places to play now.

“We have got other gigs lined up but we are looking for more. It’s a case of getting the word out there and passed around.

“We all go to college but we are very serious about our music. It’s more than just a hobby and we want to take it further and go to more places.”
