ACCRINGTON GIRLS AND LADIES FC

ACCRINGTON Girls and Ladies FC are already making plans for next season with a change of name and the holding open trials for the Ladies First and Reserves teams.

From the start of next season the club will be known as Accrington Community Football Club both to reflect the community work it undertakes being the Lancashire Community Club of the Year in 2014 and the Hyndburn Community Club of the year for five out of the past seven years and also that it now has an under-14s boys team as part of the club.

The trials are being held every Tuesday in June from 6.45pm for both squads for next season.

The trials will take place at Livingstone Road Accrington BB5 5BX.

Trials are open to existing and potential new players to the club from age 16.

The 1st team play in the Premier Division of the North West Womens Regional Football League having been promoted twice in the last 3 years.

The Reserves play in the Lancashire County League and last year a number of players suc- cessfully made the transition from the Reserves to the 1st team.

Both teams are keen to develop on their progress over recent seasons by improving both the quality and quantity in each of the squads.

Reflecting on last season, Jo Cooney chair of the club, said: “Last season on their day both teams were a match for any team within their respective leagues but both squads were stretched due to injuries particularly towards the end of the season when both teams were playing catch up with the backlog of fixtures.

“However, with the addition of some new players to increase the competition for places the club is confident that both teams will have an excellent 2017/18 season.”
