Village community forum to bid for £2,000 fund for path revamp

-

HUNCOAT Community Forum is bidding for £2,000 from a charity fund to improve a “boggy” path surface in Huncoat.

Forum chairperson Roy Chetham has worked to put in a bid to the Windfall Fund from the Prospects Foundation for £2,000.

This is to improve 33 metres of path surface in Cleggs Lane - part of the Huncoat Trail - and also to improve the directly adjacent path surface within the new plantation.

Roy said: “This is because both parts are low lying and poor draining and in winter or wet weather become very boggy.

“I am also proposing that we contribute £500 from our existing funds towards this project as this is a condition of the Windfall Fund.”

The forum now needs letters of support to add weight to the funding bid, which will also supply a ‘rustic’ bench for the top field.

A BABIES and toddler group meets at St John’s Church Baxenden on Mondays from 9am to 11.30am.

The session costs £2 per family and includes tea and coffee, juice and toast. All are welcome. There will be toys, singing, and socialising. For more information contact Karen Donohoe on 07775 924588.

THE next meeting of the Huncoat Community Forum has been postponed from the Monday, June 20 and will now take place on Monday, June 27. This meeting will be a formal meeting as there are several items of important business on the agenda, which is available from Roy Chetham.

HUNCOAT furniture firm Senator International has donated £550 towards the Huncoat in Bloom project.

THE Baxenden Concert band will next perform at a family fun day this summer.

The group will play at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-leMoors from 1pm on Sunday, July 10.

They will also take the stage at Gisburn Parish Church on Friday, July 15 at 7.30pm.

THE Whitakers Arms pub on Burnley Road in Huncoat is holding a charity family fun day on July 2. All funds raised are in aid of Cancer Research.
