WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

CLAIMS town centre roads changes are an accident waiting to happen (‘New one-way system ‘has brought chaos’ to town’s roads’, June 17): Emma Riley: It’s nowt to do with reading the signs but because everyone is so used to the old one way they change after so many years and expect drivers to pick up the new system in a breath. I don’t drive but my partner does and the new system is stupid and it will cause accidents and a lot of drivers getting fined for it. I don’t remember seeing any notice about this new system . Dean Wainwright: It’s not a fault of the system, but of the drivers ignoring the road signs - that’s why they’re there. No use saying “it didn’t used to be like this before, I don’t like it” Steve Birtwell: If drivers paid more attention to the roads and stopped driving on autopilot it wouldn’t be a problem. That said it’s a pointless change. Jackie Watts: The changes being made in Accrington will not make access to the town any better and by the way no-one will be coming anyway as there is nothing to come for! Anthony Musgrove: It’s all signposted don’t see a problem. When you drive somewhere you have never been to before do you go up a no entry street and say well never been here before?? No you don’t you read the signs Chris Bamber: Undue care and attention along with lack of awareness are the cause of many accidents. Never take anything for granted even if things have been the same for twenty years. Ian Ormerod: There should have been large signs encircling the town centre warning of the new road layout. Chris Taylor: I like it only thing I don’t like is its a one way going up from Church Street to the Bees Knees Jazz Smith: As a pedestrian I think there should be a zebra crossing at the bottom like at the junction across from the railway pub. Janette Studholme: Pay attention. That’s how your supposed to drive, I found it much better. Gary M Hough: Drive like an imbecile and it will result in accidents. I’ve driven that bit and it’s fine though for those I’ve seen drive the wrong way I’d be more concerned they might not have ever passed a test.

TRANSPORT bosses quash ‘rumours’ over new Accrington bus station delays (‘Rumours over delay of bus station are rejected’, June 17) Paul Cosgrove: There was nothing wrong with the one we have now, it did the job it was supposed to do, Why spend £6.4 million on a brand new bus station when there are empty shops galore in the Arndale and around town, pump some life into the town, draw some interest from outside the borough then and only then when the town is back on its feet with shops for people to visit, that’s when you build a new bus station. Scott Anthony Slater: The building has been complete for about four or five weeks now. I’ve seen no work on the building or contractors on site since early May. I’ve also seen officials with a bus doing some manoeuvres one day, at least the delays fit in with the theme of the entire scheme.
